JIAYING CHUONG, O.D.

About Dr. Chuong
Dr. Chuong was born in Malaysia and raised in Katy, Texas. She was the youngest of three girls in the family. Her parents had high goals for all their girls; however, after her high school graduation, she did not have a clear calling about her future. During her time at UT Austin, she joined the Pre-Optometry Professional Society, and she appreciated the supportive and encouraging community of the group and decided to pursue optometry as her career.

She especially appreciates the fact that she can utilize her knowledge to help others, and through it, she could improve people’s quality of life. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she graduates Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry with her Doctorate of Optometry. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Chuong likes exploring local restaurants, baking, and spending time with her family. When the weather is nice, she enjoys hiking and playing tennis. Since she recently moved to the Dallas-Fort-Worth area, she is on the lookout for good restaurants and attractions to visit.

Stephen Lanier, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston in 1988, and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Texas Christian University. He has been practicing optometry since 1988, and his special field of interest is contact lenses.

Dr. Lanier enjoys serving people in the health care field and says he considered many other avenues in health care before ultimately choosing optometry. As an optometrist, he gets to operate in so many capacities within the well-patient care model, as well as the medical-surgical eyecare arena. Dr. Lanier believes optometrists have a vast variety of ways in which they can impact the visual health and wellbeing of all patients, both young and old, throughout their entire lives.

Dr. Lanier particularly loves the life-long relationships he develops with the members of his community. While he gets to do a lot of cool stuff as an eye doctor and the doctoring is fun and rewarding, he says it’s the relationships built over the years that he really finds invaluable.

When Dr. Lanier is not treating patients, he says that having family time is always the best. They all enjoy college sports, especially TCU baseball & football. In addition, he enjoys participating in trap & skeet shooting. While doing yardwork might sound boring to most people, he loves keeping a great yard…but it certainly helps that his wife has a green thumb!
